The impact of life skills training on mental health and
individual-social adjustment in male students in
the first year of high schools in Shoush city

Aims: Health issue has always been important since the creation of human and over the centuries. But
dominantly its physical dimension is generally considered, while all three aspects should be considered
including physical, mental and social. So the present research has investigated the impact of life skills training
on mental health and individual-social adjustment in male students in the first year of high schools in Shoush
city.
Methods: In this experimental study, pre-test and post-test was used compared to the control group.
The statistical society included all the male students in the first year of high schools in Shoush city and the
convenience sampling was applied for selecting the study sample (25 in experimental group and 25 in control
group). In this study we used Goldberg General health questionnaire, California questionnaire and life Skills
Teaching guide. Life skills teaching were conducted in ten sessions for one month. After finishing educational
program, a post-test was given to both groups.
Results: The results showed that there was a significant difference between male students in terms of
mental health disorder (f =125.56, p<0.0001). Also the result demonstrated that a significant difference was
observed between male students in terms of individual-social adjustment (f =68.13, p<0.0001).
Discussion: The set of life skills would have preventive, control and problem management purposes and
similar to the training approach is appropriate for individual and group interventions. |
