Analysis of students’ ethical intelligence status (Case study: Allameh Tabataba’i University)

Introduction: Today, one of the expected actions of universities is the Institutionalization of Ethics and the
Development of Students’ Ethical Intelligence. The purpose of this research is to analyze the status of ethical
intelligence of Allameh Tabataba’i University students.
Methods: this study has an applied research method in terms of purpose and in terms of data collection,
it is descriptive and its research design is survey scrutiny. The statistical population of this study is students
of Allameh Tabataba’i University in five faculties (psychology and education, political science and law,
management, accounting, literature and communication) in the years 2017-18. The data was gathered by
Link and Kiel questionnaire of moral intelligence (MCI) which has 10 components. Therefore, using SPSS
software version 16, data analysis was performed and descriptive and correlation tests were used.
Results: Among 316 students participating in the study, 190 (61%) were women and 122 (39%) were
male, and moral intelligence with a mean total (71.8) was considered to be moderate and good because,
based on the scoring of this questionnaire, the score between (70-79) is considered to be moderate and good.
Therefore, the characteristics of loyalty and faithfulness to one’s promise, the truthfulness and expression
of the truth and the acceptance of responsibility for giving service to humans have the highest scores,
respectively, and the least score is for the confession of mistakes and shortcomings.
Conclusion: Students at Allameh Tabataba’i University have a good level of ethical intelligence and this
issue is of great importance to practitioners and planners because students, as the future workforce with high
ethical intelligence, have a role to play in building an ethical and healthy society.
