Motivation of Primary School Teachers in Shahriyar

Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationship between manager’s
empowerment and job motivation of teachers in the primary schools of Shahriyar. The focus of this study
was on the professional abilities of managers and factors such as decision-making, professional growth, job
database, self-efficiency, autonomy influencing on job motivation of teachers.
Method: This is a descriptive correlational study which is quantitative in terms of data and practical in
terms of target. Statistical population of this study consisted of all managers and teachers of primary schools
of Shahriyar including 198 managers and 2045 teachers. In this study, 132 mangers and 323 teachers were
selected by stratified random sampling based on VHS Bula Table. The instruments used in this study were two
questionnaires including Shorts and Reinhardt Empowerment Questionnaire with Cronbach’s alpha coefficient
(0.94) based on 5-Likert Scale and Abraham Maslow’s (Hierarchy of Needs) Staff Needs Questionnaire with
Cronbach’s alpha coefficient (0.97). Data analysis was carried out in two levels of descriptive (average,
distribution, standard deviation, skew and kurtosis) and inferential (Pearson Correlation Test, Spearman and
Multivariate Regression) statistics using SPSS software version 23.
Results: Findings indicated a significant relationship between empowerment of management and
physiologic motivation; empowering mangers resulted in increased physiologic motivation of teachers.
But, there was no significant relationship between empowerment of management of managers and the
motivation for teachers’ safety. On the other hand, there is a significant relationship between empowerment
of management and social motivation, respect and Self-actualization of teachers. Test results show that,
by increasing empowerment of management, social motivation, respect and self-actualization increase in
teachers.
Conclusion: The findings indicate the value and importance of empowering managers in increasing
social motivation, respect and self-esteem of teachers. |
