Application of the TOPSIS Technique in the Ranking
of Smart Schools’ Barriers: A Case Study of
the Secondary Schools in the Qarchak

Introduction: The smart schools are developed schools that convey the traditional concepts with the
usage of the information and communication technology. The teaching methods in the smart schools are
students- based. The strategy of smart schools is the provision of the thinking skills and the teaching-learning
environment. The aim of this study is the ranking barriers of the smart schools with the usage of the TOPSIS
technique in the secondary schools in the Qarchak.
Methods: This is a descriptive and practical study. All the managers and assistants at the secondary
schools in the Qarchak were included in the study (N= 178) and categorized according to the simple
randomized sampling (N= 122). The data gathered by the questionnaire with the 7 components and 56 items.
The Alpha Cronbach of the questionnaire was 0.93. Data were analyzed with the TOPSIS technique.
Results: The most important items were the lack of both the appropriate organizational culture and
structure. The least important item was the absence of the integrated management system in the small
schools.
Discussion: For the transforming the new concepts to the students, the efficacy of the traditional education
methods is low. Applying appropriate new technology is necessary. |
