Introduction: User interfaces are a crucial factor in ensuring the success of mobile applications. Mobile Educational Applications not only provide flexibility in learning, but also allow learners to learn at any time and any place. The purpose of this article is to investigate the effective factors affecting the design of the user interface in mobile educational applications.
Methods: Quantitative content analysis method has been used in this research. The statistical population included scientific documents in valid databases during the years of 2012-2019, which were searched using specific keywords. 31 valid documents were selected as the research sample by purposive sampling method. The documents were categorized in terms of objectives, methodology and results, their results were compared, and their similarities and differences were studied in order to verify the selected researches.
Results: Flexibility in using and understandable information is some of the mobile user interface design principles. One of the features of the educational user interface is to enable learners to interact with each other to facilitate knowledge retrieval and support cognitive load management.
Conclusion: With recent advances in technology, there is now more flexibility available to learners to control the user interface of mobile educational applications. A user interface design framework for mobile educational applications can enhance learner performance with respect to cognitive performance and interaction which ensures a better user experience.
